of the Cornish Language during 2008

• The morning session will look over the initiatives undertaken in the past two years, including reports and displays about the various research studies and projects from those who have led them.
• 
  
• In the afternoon, the conference will look to the future and discuss the priorities for the next few years in the light of the strategy review, the re-structuring of the Partnership and the need for a new business plan.
• 
  
• There will be displays on projects and on the work not only of the Partnership itself but also of the partner organisations and, if space allows, other initiatives of interest. Copies of reports will be available and the timetable will allow space for informal discussion as well as organised sessions.

• A financial report is due at the end of January and that will conclude the Objective One project.
• 
  
• All primary schools in Cornwall have now been given their free copies of materials. Evaluation of how they are received in schools will take place this term.
• 
  
• Investigating teacher training at the College of St Mark & St John, Exeter
• 
  
• A youth project is being trialled in East Cornwall.
• 
  
• The Young Pirates Supporters Club is up and running, with materials in Cornish
• 
  
• The Translation Service is now approaching 900 completed tasks
• 
  
• A précis in Cornish is now included in the Your Cornwall magazine each month.

• a ‘Bookmark’ scheme: bookmarks for children, showing pictures of objects with the name underneath in several languages

• improvement to the UK page on the EBLUL website

• how to spread the use of minority languages, especially in pre-school

• a conference is being planned for September 2010 in Northern Ireland with the theme ‘Bridging the Generation Gap in Minority Languages’.
• 
  
• a feasibility study into a single television channel for all the UK minority languages.

• the Board is keen to support the use of simultaneous translation equipment at Partnership meetings, as already decided, and proposes that the service should be used at meetings elsewhere.

• proofreading of the Gerlyver Meur continues: it is proving to be a much more exacting task than foreseen, with many different ideas about format and content. The Yeth ha Gerva (Language and Vocabulary) Subcommittee has met several times and has been feeding back to Dr George, editor of the Gerlyver Meur.

• the Board’s Annual Report 2008 will be published soon, giving details of activities throughout the year.
• 
  
• a decision has been taken on the spelling systems to be used in the Board’s examinations over the next five years. Since 1988 all grades have been offered in Kernewek Kemmyn and in Kernewek Unys. Following the Board’s decision to support the agreement on the Standard Written Form, Kernewek Unys will be phased out over the next four years in favour of the SWF. By 2013, all grades will be offered in Kernewek Kemmyn and the SWF. {2013 is the year the SWF will come up for review after the agreed 5 year moratorium on change}.
