Programme of Events

Saturday September 7th

1425:   The Civic Procession leaves for the Circle.

1430:  The Bardic Procession leaves for the Circle, headed by the Marshal and the Piper and followed by the bare-headed Initiates, the Bards of Cornwall, the Banners of St Piran and Keskerdh Kernow; Gorseth Council members, the Esethvos (Eisteddfod) Banner, the Mistress of the Robes and Herald Bard, the Chanter and Chaplain; the Homer followed by the dancers. Next come the Lady of Cornwall with her Attendants; Past Grand and Deputy Grand Bards; Secretary and Treasurer; delegates from the Gorseth of Brittany preceded by a page carrying the Breton Banner; delegates from the Gorseth of Wales preceded by a page carrying the Welsh Banner. Then come the Deputy Grand Bard, Rod Trevelyn Lyon, and the Swordbearer, preceding the Grand Bard, John Edgar Bolitho. The Junior Marshal and Senior Stewards follow with the principal Award- and Prizewinners, the procession ending with the Banners of Old Cornwall Societies.

1445:  The Gorseth is welcomed to the village by the Chairman of the District Council, and the ceremony begins. It includes the commemoration of bards deceased in the past year, the Presentation of the Flowers by the Lady of Cornwall, the Flower Dance by the County Primary School, and the presentation of major awards and prizes, and concludes with the swearing of loyalty to Cornwall on the ceremonial Sword of King Arthur and the singing of Bro Goth Agan Tasow (Old Land of our Fathers).

1600 approx:  The Procession returns to the school.

1830 to 2000:  Public Concert at the Millennium House. Master of Ceremonies Adrian Wilton. Featuring Pastiche Ladies' Choir, Hilda Gillbard, Pensilva schoolchildren singing and Lyskerrys Male Choir.

2000 to 2300:  Troyl.

 
Sunday September 8th

1230 to1330:  Grand Buffet Lunch at the Millennium House. £5 per head. Car parking at the Millennium House.

1500:  Ecumenical service in Cornish (gwesperow) at St John's Church, Pensilva, by kind invitation of The Rev Keith Lanyon Jones. All welcome whether Cornish speakers or not. This is a galvanised iron and tin church and really warrants a visit. The collection is for the church. Car parking at the Millennium House.
