John Chesterfield 
Dr John Chesterfield (Gwas Costentyn)

 

Dr John Chesterfield celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Gorseth at Poldhu when he spoke on the radio to the deputy grand bard, Major Cecil Beer, in Melbourne, Australia. In 1901 Marconi had sent the first radio signals across the Atlantic from Poldhu.

Dr Chesterfield was Sword Bearer for more than 20 years.

He worked as an industrial chemist in Bristol.

He is helping to translate the New Testament into Cornish.
